Maserati is a car manufacturer, presently a subsidiary of Fiat, founded by the car racers and designers, the brothers, Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore, and Ernesto Maseratti in 1926, after taking over Diatto. They continued producing race cars and winning competitions well through the following decades with 4, 6, 8 and 16 cylinders racing cars. (two straight-eights mounted parallel to one another). The company emblem, a trident, is based on the Fontana del Nettuno, Bologna.
In 1999 Ferrari, a sister company of FIAT took full control of Maserati and made its luxury division. Thus Maseratti got back into business after many wears of existence on the brink of bankruptcy.
